Old-Time
New England Families
Willam Stickney and his family emigrated from England to Rowley, Massachusetts in 1637, making them among the first settlers there.
Thomas Durfee, another Englishman, settled in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. His descendents spread to the nearby towns of Tiverton and Fall River, Massachusetts. Among the Durfee desendents was Lizzie Borden, who became famous for having been accused (and acquitted) of killing her parents. Most modern scholars feel that she was in fact guilty of the crime.
